My dog have seizures

"I have been a customer of Holistapet for years and the cbd oil for my German shepherd lab mix went from seizures 3-4 times a week 1-2 times a year and they’re not violent! Last couple of batches doesn’t smell as strong from when I first started purchasing. I hope, truly hope the oils are not cut because this really has kept my dog from dying. It’s really painful to watch a dog have seizures and it’s painful for them."

The Science Behind Probiotics for Dogs and Gut

Your pup’s belly hosts a bustling community of microbes that help keep digestion on track. Inside the digestive tract, healthy gut bacteria work alongside other beneficial microorganisms to break down food and help the body use nutrients more efficiently. When that balance tilts, probiotics for dogs help refill the gut with friendly microbes that push back against harmful bacteria.

That microbial teamwork also affects the immune system, which operates largely within the digestive tract. Balanced bacteria help the body respond normally to everyday challenges. Experts in veterinary medicine continue to study probiotic strains that help support gut balance, especially during diet changes or after antibiotic use. As research grows, pet parents learn more ways to care for their dog’s gut health.

How Veterinary Expertise Helps Guide Safe Digestive Supplements for Dogs

Great digestive supplements start with veterinary insight. A skilled veterinarian understands how the canine gut works and how probiotics interact with the gastrointestinal tract. That knowledge helps experts review research on certain probiotic strains. It helps identify which ones keep helpful microbes and bad bacteria in better balance.

Veterinary guidance also helps determine when probiotics can help your dog the most. Many pups benefit during diet changes, travel, or antibiotic use, when gut balance can shift. With expert oversight, digestive supplements are designed specifically for dogs, which makes finding the right product a breeze.

HolistaPet’s Commitment to Science-Backed Pet Wellness

Trendy pet supplements come and go, but thoughtful science never goes out of style. At HolistaPet, we build our formulas around veterinary insight and modern nutrition research. We use ingredients that help keep your pup’s digestive tract balanced. Our dog probiotics are designed specifically for canine digestion. They’re not borrowed from human probiotics, which may work differently for dogs.

We also keep things honest and transparent. Our formulas undergo veterinary review and independent lab testing to confirm quality and consistency. Carefully selected probiotic strains help encourage microbial balance and everyday comfort. What you get is a supplement crafted to fit smoothly into your dog’s daily wellness routine.

How Many Probiotic Chews Should I Give My Dog?

The right serving depends on your dog’s size. Our chews make starting probiotics simple and consistent. They're designed to help dogs enjoy the many benefits of balanced gut bacteria. Use these general guidelines:

  • Less than 20 lbs = 1 chew
  • 20–50 lbs = 2 chews
  • More than 50 lbs = 3 chews

(or as needed)

Does your pup have ongoing health problems or digestive concerns? Your veterinarian can help tailor the serving to your dog’s needs.

How Often Should Dogs Take Probiotics?

Most dogs can take probiotics once a day as part of their regular wellness routine. Daily supplementation helps keep helpful bacteria active in your pup’s gut, which is key to how probiotics work. Consistency matters. Many dogs benefit most when probiotics are given with meals and used regularly. In some cases, a vet may suggest probiotics during diet changes or digestive trouble to help manage diarrhea and restore balance.

Can Probiotics Help Dogs with Digestive Upset or Diarrhea?

Yes, probiotics may help when your pup’s stomach feels off. These helpful microbes support gut balance and crowd out potential pathogens that can disrupt digestion. Dogs that take our infused treats often experience steadier digestion and firmer stools. Probiotics may also offer benefits beyond digestion, including support for overall wellness. If symptoms continue or worsen, a vet can help rule out health problems such as infections or food sensitivities.

Can Probiotics Support a Dog’s Immune System or Nutrient Absorption?

Yes, probiotics can play a helpful role in your dog’s overall wellness. A balanced gut breaks down nutrients more efficiently, helping your pup get more from their meals. Because much of the immune system is linked to digestion, gut balance may also help support protection against immune system disorders or even urinary tract infections. For many dogs, steady digestive balance supports energy, comfort, and everyday health.

Can Probiotics Be Used With Other Dog Wellness Supplements?

Yes, probiotics can be used alongside other dog wellness supplements. Many pet parents pair them with vitamins, joint formulas, or specialized dog foods to support overall health. We suggest pairing probiotics with our dog multivitamin for added nutritional support.

Each supplement plays its own role, so they often work well together. That said, every pup is different. Dogs with certain conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease, may need extra guidance. A veterinarian can help you choose the safest combination so your pup can enjoy the same benefits comfortably.

Wondering About Something? Let’s Clear It Up.

What Are Probiotics for Dogs and How Do They Work?

Are Probiotics Safe for Dogs?

Yes, probiotics are generally safe for most dogs when used correctly. These helpful microbes support digestive balance in your pup’s gut. Learn More About Dog Digestive Health

Your dog’s digestive health plays a big role in how they feel each day. The more you understand about probiotics, the easier it becomes to choose products that truly support your pup’s wellness. Learning things like reading labels and checking a product's expiration date can help you make confident choices for your dog’s care. Below, we share the key things every pet parent should know before buying their first pack of dogs probiotic treats.

Why Gut Health Is Important for Dogs

Your dog’s gut does more than break down nutrients and fuel the body with everyday energy. Inside the digestive tract lives a busy community of helpful microbes that keep digestion running smoothly. When this balance is maintained, your pup can absorb nutrients more efficiently and stay in shape.

Balanced gut bacteria also support normal immune activity, helping the body defend against potential pathogens. That’s one reason gut care has become such an important part of modern canine wellness.

At HolistaPet, we believe gut care should feel simple for pet parents and tasty for dogs. Our probiotic chews deliver carefully selected live cultures in a formula made just for canine digestion. The tail-wagging result? A daily wellness boost that helps your furry sidekick feel lighter, happier, and ready for the next adventure.

Understanding the Dog Gut Microbiome

Think of your dog’s gut microbiome as a tiny ecosystem working behind the scenes. Trillions of microorganisms live in the digestive tract and help regulate how food is processed each day. Their job is not to eliminate bacteria but to keep the right balance.

This microbial community constantly adapts to changes in diet, environment, and age. When the ecosystem remains balanced, your pup can digest food more smoothly and feel their best. This balance also supports overall wellness, including areas connected to mental health.

Signs Your Dog May Benefit from Probiotic Supplements

Changes in digestion, behavior, or routine can impact gut balance, so spotting early signs can make a difference. Luckily, dogs often show hints that they could use extra support. Recognizing the signs your dog needs probiotics helps you respond early and keep your canine pal feeling comfortable.

  • Occasional loose stools, irregular bowel movements, or increased gas and bloating
  • Digestive changes after switching dog foods or trying new treats
  • Upset stomach during travel, routine changes, or moments of agitation
  • Changes in appetite or inconsistent eating habits
  • Scooting or frequent licking around the rear area
  • Lingering bad breath linked to digestive imbalance
  • Dull coat or minor skin irritation tied to gut balance
  • Occasional low energy that seems connected to digestive discomfort

How Diet and Gut Bacteria Affect Dog Wellness

What goes into your dog’s bowl helps shape the tiny community of microbes living in their gut. Nutritious meals and natural fiber feed the helpful bacteria that keep digestion moving smoothly. When those microbes get the right fuel, your pup can break down food more easily and absorb more of the good stuff.

Quick changes between dog foods can shake up that balance. A slow, steady switch helps the gut adjust and keeps your furry sidekick feeling comfortable.
